Mental Health training, Health & First Aid training, Bleed Kit control training, Havering Council approved Safeguard Training
Regular street patrols, park patrols – on foot, with over 30 volunteers, protecting our streets, engaging with our young people to stop them committing crime.
We provide an amnesty service, giving people the opportunity to dispose of knives, safely and anonymously.
Worked with the ‘For Jodie’ project to train volunteers in CPR, First Aid and bleed control.
Distributed ‘For Jodie’ bleed kits in The Deer’s Rest, Saxon King Pub, Central Park Leisure Centre, Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre and more locations, making every minute count after a stabbing takes place with on-hand equipment to save a life.
Put TAKSAL money charity boxes across the borough to try and fund raise.
FUNDING TO CONTINUE THIS…
We need funding from Havering Council, the Government and the private sector to keep our streets safe, give our young people opportunities to get out of crime, and our community the support it needs.
That starts with funding, which we ask the Council and Government to consider! We want to fund:
• Strategically positioned bleed kits across Havering
• Headquarters in the borough, with a gym, training area and a place
to provide breakfast for young people to come, taking them off the
streets.
• 3 full time staff members to man the HQ, and work for the charity
full time.

We need a HQ that is fit for the organisation we’re trying to run, that starts
with those we try to help. We need:
• A medium to large shopfront in a prime location
• The premises contain space for the following:
An office area
A gym
An eating area
A technology and music area
Room for our young people to engage with our staff and volunteers
• We ask that the funding that local government, the mayor and the
national government consider, could help us cover this.
Take a knife save a life was founded by Stephen Gowers in the wake of the horrific and senseless murder of teenager Jodie Chesney, a bright young lady with a heart of gold . This senseless murder inspired the community of Havering to stand up and join together to raise awareness and combat knife crime in the community. Volunteers patrol the Borough, interacting with youths and partake in regular weapon sweeps, resulting in volunteers finding hundreds of knifes and removing from harms way.TAKSAL became a registered charity on the 10th of July 2020 and have gone from strength to strength.
Preventing knife crime requires collective action. We work with young people, the government and stakeholders because we recognise we cannot do this alone. Our resources for practitioners and parents are designed to empower others to work with young people on a difficult and sensitive topic.
We campaign for action and justice for those affected by knife crime and our campaigns have won numerous awards in recognition of their success. We consistently campaign for change; challenging government, businesses and society to ensure everyone takes responsibility for tackling knife crime.
